Bin77 is my hands down favorite bar/restaurant in Baton Rouge. I make a point to go at least once a week. When I first started frequenting the establishment, I never had trouble getting a table. Recently, business seems to have picked up, and on several recent visits I've been forced to wait out a table at the bar or find another place to eat. They have several high top tables, multiple low tables with cushy seats and lots of outdoor seating. The outdoor area shares space with The Loft (which is right next door). I haven't explored the drink list much, but I am always satisfied with the wine selection. The pours are generous and I've sent back a glass I didn't particularly care for without any problems. I think they also do wine tastings on Thursdays but I haven't had the opportunity to make it yet. The food is delicious, but a bit pricey. By far the most tasty and best portion for your dollar (in my opinion) is the Bin Burger, substitute truffle fries and chive aioli. People, if you have anything to eat here, have the truffle fries. They are epic. Also recommended are the flatbreads - all very tasty. I love me some Bin77 and look forward to my next visit. Highly recommended.

Staff is very friendly and helpful. I love sitting at the bar because the bar manager i believe makes the best Moscow Mules... (love the mugs too). Devils on Horseback is such a unique combination but actually tastes really good. Has a sweet and sour taste from the dates to the meats. Ravioli was good but tasted a bit too smoky for me. Lamb chop was really good and cooked perfectly.

Great little place to eat. European feeling. The braised Mississippi rabbit confit tamales were really tasty! And for dessert, if you are a chocoholic like me, take the half-baked brownie! To die for!

I went the other night with a friend of mine, and I have to say that it was a pretty enjoyable experience. Both of my drinks were nice and and flavorful. It is hard to find a good chocolate martini, but the people at Bin 77 made it for me, though they call it a Chocolate Kiss. I also tried the white wine sangria, it was sweet and delicious. You could taste the wine (obviously) but it picked up lots of fruity, sweet flavors. I got a selection of cheeses and meats as a taster for us to split, and it was pretty good. My problem was that they brought a loaf of bread and there really wasn't enough bread there to enjoy with all of the goodies on the tray. I have to inform you that they did bring me more when I asked for it. Overall, it was nice, but I just felt it was a little expensive. I spent 50 bucks that night, and I don't feel that I quite had a $50 experience.

Over priced and the portions were not worth it. Service was terrible. Got the chocolate lava cake and it was cold and covered in some king of fruit, I think grapes. The cake was cold and the fruit did not go well with the cake. Not a fan of this place

This is by far one of my favorite places in town. I was a little worried when Chef Blake left but the new menu/chef seem to be working out really well. They kept most of the best items like the hummus w/pepperdews, meat & cheese w/feta cream cheese, steak & gruyere flatbread. But there are a few new items that I really enjoyed...the fried oysters and okra with the most wonderful sauce ever...hint, it tastes like crawfish boil. I also enjoyed the duck confit beignets...delicious!! There were also a few misses...the beef carpaccio wasn't sliced thin at all and the pork belly wasn't cooked down as much as I would like so it was slightly fatty. I still think everyone should try this place out. If you like wine, they have a great selection and the food is good if you know what to order.

Wine here is not that good and way overpriced

Wonderful atmosphere. Creative drink and food menu. I ordered the sazerac and watched the mixologist prepare it perfectly. My wife and I stopped in for cocktails and appetizers on a break from shopping. Our server, Clay was polite, friendly, informative, and punctual. We will be back and enjoyed the experience.

Came here for a special holiday dinner with the team. We were looking forward to coming because we had heard good things about it from our client! I did really like the center that the restaurant was in - Perkins Rowe - reminded me of home. We got the rosemary fries with the chive aoli to start and this was probably the best part of the meal! Clearly, they've got their frites down to a science...I just wish we had had more of them! I got the short rib pasta which was really tasty, but there was a pool of oil at the bottom of my bowl. It got to be really unappetizing as I ate it, wondering if all of that oil was also pooling at the bottom of my stomach...I'm not even sure why there would be that much oil in a pasta dish?! One of my co-workers got the lamb chop and she was really not pleased. It was tough and overcooked and she was not given an actual knife knife to cut the meat until she asked! The service was pretty slow, and not that we were in a rush, we just wanted our drinks and food in somewhat of a timely manner. They were really helpful when we ordered wine and gave us all of the tastings we wanted in order to choose the right glass. I would probably give it one more shot to see if the service was any better or if we could order any other menu items that were better, but not sure if that could actually be improved upon.

This wine bar has a good atmosphere with the right amount of lighting and a decent selection of wines. We've been here twice. I'm giving them 2 stars because they were only good enough the first time. The second time, we had high hopes but they failed to deliver..... Let me start on our 2nd visit. We were seated at the table. Appetizers: mixed greens with fried cheese ball and creole devils. They were both excellent! The flavors meshed well together. Entrées: winter cassoulet; a concoction of rabbit, duck, pork, & beans drenched in a pool of oil. It had a strange taste...Disgusting! And, Lamb Chops; I had to put extra effort to cut the meat because it was tough! The side of sliced eggplants were undercooked, this platter looked and smelled delicious but came up short. The service? Bad! When both our wine glasses were empty, she asked my husband if he would like another glass. During our meal, she asked him how the food was. Dessert you say, she gave him a dessert menu. I think she forgot about me...the lady who is going to declare her tip :) She did however, remove my husband's uneaten cassoulet from the bill... On our 1st visit: The restaurant was full so we sat at the bar instead. Both bartenders were upbeat and service was wonderful! For appetizer we ordered caprese salad and lamb carpaccio - the lamb was a bit thick but the sauce drizzled on top complimented it very well and the salad had a nice dressing. Our entrées were prime rib and smoked salmon salad. The beef was- again, tough. Although the platter was flavorful, the meat should've been tender. The smoked salmon was overwhelming, the large pieces were set on top of the mixed greens, it was the only thing I could smell..... glad it's over.

Shows some promise but has a little farther to go in order to live up to the prices. Would be in3.5 range but Yelp has no half stars. Had a light dinner at the bar attended by Katie and Clay. Wines by the glass on the featured menu were $15 and $16 so we opted for a Selby Chard at a mere $13. Good glass of wine and the pour is generous, especially when you have been to Blend. Beer selection is fairly pedestrian but they do have a few locals. I grabbed a Canebreak as I was extremely thirsty and was a bit disappointed that it was just over room temp. Hardly refreshing. A Pellegrino pint took care of the rest of my thirst. Then ordered a Dark and Stormy which was a nice two liquor sipper. Food wise we did the Foie Gras Torchon at $16. A Beet "Salad" and the popular Shrimp and Crab Au Gratin small plate, really a dip. The Torchon had a lot going on in it and was deemed a winner. Hard to decipher some of it but it all worked Beet salad was really a lot of beets with a fried goat cheese sphere. A little jalapeño and a smidgen of green garnish. Needs more balance and goat cheese, jalapeño and much more greens. Would not order again unless this change made. Shrimp and crab dish came with a mini loaf and was rich and tasty. Predictable but very good which is why it is the most popular. Will return and try some big plates and update the reviews as we go. Our tab was $110 with tip and it is a good date place. Courtyard dining was on to with some music setting up. Come fall we will venture outside.

This is the kind of place where I feel I need to dine at weekly to try every delicious item on their menu as it all sounds perfect. However, I sadly have only been here twice in my lifetime, but hey, I'm still young! The cocktails are wonderful, and the food is perfection as it sounds. I found the portions and prices aligned well also. I've gone with a girlfriend both times, so I'm thinking it's time I give the husband the hint to take me there to take me on a very romantic date night. ;-) The problem of course will be that I will want to sample every.mouth.watering.ite… ! Oh decisions are so tough! I will make sure to update my review with more specifics on what to try the next time I go as well. I can say that the charcuterie was an intriguing option that we tried, and I was very impressed with the options and pleased with our tasty decisions. And the Apple Crustad dessert was fantastic and plenty to share! I shall definitely return and so should you!

I stopped in for 1 drink while waiting for my ride, but it was the second best Old Fashion I've ever had. The best is from a friend who has tweaked it to my tastes. I was literally in Bin 77 for 10 minutes but that drink was awesome. They had a nice drink menu so I want to go back and test it out.

I was very impressed with this place. My fiancé and I went for drinks after dinner. We sat at the bar and Mary was our bartender. She was awesome! As a bartender myself I was very impressed with the cocktails offered and the quality of the mixologists here. Expect to pay more for a cocktail because your are definitely getting more. I will be back for sure!

It's a sultry July evening in South Louisiana, what do you want to do? Get thee to Bin 77 immediately, because if you're anything like me, you probably *need* an extremely cold glass of bubbly right about now. You may even want to take it outside on that gorgeous large patio that is wedged between the restaurant and the bar. And if you're a hungry vegetarian or vegan? You're in luck. Chef David will take care of you and by that I mean take great care of you. As in, he won't merely grill up some squash and peppers either (thank. God.) Also, is anyone else sick of a grilled portobello mushroom being your sole option on a menu because I sure am. I digress. I had a date night to remember a couple weeks ago at Bin 77, at the brilliant recommendation of Baton Rouge's own Rebecca W. I had been wanting to try this place for a while now and being that NOLA was at the start of a very crowded holiday weekend, my guy and I decided to head out of Dodge and spend the evening in Baton Rouge. Although I didn't make reservations, we were seated upon arrival at around 7pm. I took one glimpse of the seating outside and was dead set on it, though the interior is quite inviting as well. Our server was extremely friendly/accommodating and as soon as I told him I was vegan (because I wanted the cheese left off the hummus app), he told me that the chef really enjoys whipping something up for just about any dietary restriction. Within minutes, Chef David came over to the table and asked me if there's anything I don't like (that would be the aforementioned portobellos, as well as onions and bell peppers) and went off to concoct an app and entree that were both outstanding. To start, an heirloom tomato salad. Look at that photo! It involved a luscious tomato, plus charred corn and a variety of legumes (yay, protein!), topped with tempura'd (is that a verb?) okra. I swear I could hear a brilliant symphony in my head as I ate this salad. (Actually, the talented female jazz singer playing in the open windows of bar might have been the perfect accompaniment!) What followed was the most delicate of pasta dishes (sorry, I couldn't hold back from eating it immediately, so pardon the lack of photographic evidence), lightly seasoned and sprinkled with vegetables and herbs. And the bubbly flowed. Need I say more? The abridged version Food - thoroughly divine, service - impeccable (Chef kept making the rounds asking everyone if they were enjoying their food) and atmosphere - romantic without chiché. This night was Perfect (cap intended).

I am absolutely in love with this place. Last night we ordered a 3 cheese plate- you pick the cheese so you can't go wrong with that. It comes with a feta spread, honey, and an olive mixture. I mixed the feta and honey and it almost tasted like honey butter which is yum. Then we ordered Devils on horse back- I will NEVER come here and not order this !!! Then we got blackened tuna carpaccio, I loved it. It was perfect in my opinion. Next we shared the steak and Gruyere flatbread....got the filet medium rare. Loved every single bite. For my entree ( obviously I was ridiculously hungry ) I got the bin burger with the port house cheddar and bacon. Let me just say.... I think I just found my new favorite burger & I love the fact that the fries are thin. Service was great ! I ended up getting the bread pudding to go & the Creme Brûlée cheesecake. I liked the cheesecake the best! Hands down one of the best places to eat. The only thing I have tried and didn't like here was the crab cakes.

"Chef David Dickensauge is a culinary wizard"! The bar is raised during each of my visits. Chef David Dickensauge can pretty much make anything happen on a plate and it will look like an art piece. Do I need to bid on these masterpieces? The plate is his canvas created with bright colors from seasonal vegetables uniquely shaped bursting out at you. So, not only is the plate beautiful, but the flavors are eclectic, which express his true epicurean talents. Each dish was a surprise and just kept on getting better with every course. He could probably turn chalk into the best kept edible secret; yes, that is how good he is! Because I have had many different foods and will pretty much try anything once, I always like to be wow'ed! Capture my senses, make me believe that something is the best thing I have ever tasted and that nothing can compare! For example the "Creole Devils On Horseback" (from small plates) was so enticing that I could have had 5 more of those plates. I cannot say I have had anything like them before. You get a bit of bacon and medjool dates in each bite. Why go poking elsewhere for "poke" in Baton Rouge? Bin 77's was so fresh that it brought me back to my days in Hawaii. I certainly miss having it as a staple item with every meal. Thank you Chef David for bringing the feeling back. If you are a vegetarian, make sure you let your server know because chef will create you a glorious concoction! Finally, on to dessert, which was a piece of heaven. It was a half-baked brownie in a crystallized sugar bowl. Tell me why brownies can't always taste as good as this? It was an exquisite ending to an already incredible meal. If you have not been here yet, don't make me ask you, why? This is a local business that houses so much talent and wonderful customer service from the kitchen to the front-of-house. When you dine, whether for lunch or dinner, make sure to ask for Clay as your server. He was a gem! They also have a beautiful patio that has live music on Fridays and Saturdays from what I remember. Don't forget to stroll on over to Sidebar (at Bin 77) either before or after you meal at the restaurant. Bartender extraordinaire, John Morris, is a mixologist mastermind - the best in Baton Rouge.

We ate here Thursday night with a party of six. They don't take reservations, but call 30 minutes ahead and they'll put you on their call list. We had no trouble being seated right away. We sat indoors because of the rain, and Sophia was our waitress. She was great and helped us out a lot. We started with a bottle of wine and four apps: Justin Cab, the rabbit confit tamale, creole devils on horseback, hummus, and tempura shrimp. One of our party got the prixe-fix 35$ 3-course menu for his "entree" + 15$ wine pairings, one had the pork chops, one had the organic mixed greens salad, one had the duck breast, one had the cioppino, and honestly I was so enamored with mine that I don't know what the other person in our party ordered. Oops! Everything we ate was delicious and well prepared, and we had good service throughout our meal. We skipped dessert (which is unlike us!) but they all sounded wonderful. Other wines we had included the Frank Family Chardonnay, the Selby Chardonnay (AMAZING), and the Hall Cabernet. This restaurant is more spendy that most in town, but the food and atmosphere are a gem in Baton Rouge and I'm glad to see them doing well. The only qualm we had was that without the velvet couches they had before the reno, it is incredibly loud. It could help to put up some curtains or sound proofing on the ceiling. The outside would be better seating for a long quiet dinner. I hope to make it back much sooner than my last visit!

I've been here a dozen times and Bin 77 is my fave Bistro bar! John won DIG BR #1 bartender and makes fantastic cocktails! His creations are just delicious and out of this world! He'll soon be at Sidecar when it opens, but you still have a superstar bartender named Lane to see here. Now, my favorite thing at Bin 77 is the culinary master Chef David! I purposely come on Thursdays to taste his visionary masterpieces. 3-courses for $35 is a steal! Considering you will taste the brilliance of flavors, and spices that will take you on a magic carpet to your destination. From braised short ribs, to pork belly, or veal cheek any meat you try will be succculent, melt in your mouth like butter, savory goodness! Even if there is a particular item that you're not a fan of, try it here. Growing up kimchee was the norm with my mom, but I didn't like the smell or the spicy flavor. Well, Chef David has changed my palate. That is the magic of his dishes! (I was hesitant of the kimchee puree with the blackened tuna, edamame seaweed salad, but was pleasantly surprised that I liked it!) If you don't like asparagus, I promise you will like it here. Take an adventure and try it his way, before you right off an ingredient. I've had 75% of Bin 77 menu items, they are all delicious! Like I said, I try to come on Thursdays since that is when Chef David creates special 3-course menus, and you get to try dishes that are not on the main menu. $35 is a great deal considering you are getting high-quality dishes with fresh ingredients and a touch of magic. I always leave feeling as if I'm a celebrity, because the quality of food, service and ambience makes me feel like a red carpet awaits me!

I have had the luxury of visiting Bin 77 Bistro and Wine on a number of occasions. Fortunately, I can honestly say that the quality and consistency of their meals and drink selection have never wavered. If one is in any way in a rush for a quick meal and drink pairing, you have the wrong idea when visiting this establishment. In my opinion, the atmosphere here is more enjoyable when a slow and steady approach is taken. After all, isn't that what dinner out is for? Take time to talk with the Chef, who regularly makes himself available, and the bartenders as they are all friendly and knowledgeable. And, if you can manage, try something new each time you visit. You will not be disappointed.

The 5* is mainly for the bar that's connected to it. The cocktail bartender is one of the best I've been to. Great service and a good guy. Made some crazy drinks and they were all tasty! My date ordered lamb I believe, which was great. I ordered a burger.. Big mistake. Didn't taste that good. Will go back for the bar for sure!

Excellent service, terrific atmosphere for a Saturday afternoon lunch. Prices are appropriate to the quality of the food. Foie gras appetizer was delicious, and the rabbit entree is a keeper. Wonderful combinations of flavors, well prepared and beautifully presented.

Two stars, one being for the food alone but the service was good so I've given them an extra star for that. We were pretty excited to try this place since it was new for the both of us. Looking at the menu, seeing the pictures, it all looked great so we rushed over as soon as we could. Let's start with the food shall we? We ordered: Lamb Empanadas - the flavor for these were pretty good but they were very oily so that kind of ruined it for us. Shrimp and Lobster Au Gratin - this honestly just tasted like shrimp etouffee with bread, nothing special. Beef Tartar- the portion for this was HUGE, the egg was not runny, not enough toasted bread and really underseasoned. Mussels and Clams - oh my god this one was bad, not like flavor bad but actual B-A-D. The mussels were rancid, the fishiest smell permeated from this dish like nothing else. My boyfriend tried it regardless and spat it out immediately confirming. We couldn't even eat it so we didn't. Truffle Grilled Beef Tenderloin - this was probably the best thing we had that night which isn't saying much. The meat was cooked prefectly but it was a tad too sweet for my taste and I felt as though I was eating a dessert meat. Onto the service: If I were writing reviews based on service alone, this place would get a 4-5 stars but unfortunately I don't. The service that night was great, the waitress was patient and kind to us even when we voiced our complaints and concerns. The chef came out and expressed his apologies to us about the mussels stating that they must have recieved a bad batch. He offered to remake the beef tartar as well as the empanadas but we refused since we were pretty much over the whole night at that point. When recieving the bill we noticed they had taken off nearly everything we had complainted about since the chef explained he wanted us to come back. Sadly, although the service was good the food was not and for those prices I don't think it's worth giving them a second chance so we won't be coming back. :(

I would have given another star if the service hadn't been so slow. Drinks took 20 minutes to come out even though we weren't there during a busy time. We heard other people around us making comments that perhaps they'd been forgotten since they were seated outside so maybe they had an off night. The cheese plate was delicious but they forgot our beard and it took 15 more minutes to get it . I'm willing to give the place another try though. I'll update after my next visit.

Ahhhh Restaurant Week. That glorious time of year when you feel compelled to visit fancy restaurants and see if they can earn your business during the rest of year. This go 'round I decided to give Bin 77 a try as I had just sampled their award winning cocktail at the recent Best Bartenders of Baton Rouge competition. Did the food and ambiance satisfy the high standards set by the winning cocktail? Stick around for a second and I'll tell ya. "Don't forget your coat. It's chilly out there" I yelled upstairs to my date, who never usually takes this long to get ready. When she came downstairs I wondered if my advice was even necessary, as hot as she was looking. As we made our way to the restaurant I recalled that they offer a call ahead option to put your name on the list but don't take reservations. I figured we'd wing it, as I don't like to text or call and drive. #itcanwait Upon arriving at Bin 77, it was bustling with activity. We checked in and were informed of our 30-45 minute wait and made our way to the bar. Specialty cocktails abound! We started with a Honey Old Fashioned and a Rosemary Mule. Both were tasty and made with mixological expertise. It was a Friday night and as I mentioned, the place was packed, which came along with a cacophony of conversation. I could barely hear above the din, but soon we were summoned for din-ner. We took our small table for 2 near a window and met our server. She had a kind nature and gave us a wink when we said we needed time to order. My companion and I talked about life and death and work and dogs but thankfully steered away from religion and politics (until later). Unicorns did NOT come up, but I'm sure they will in the future. Ooops...the kitchen is closing so we need to order! (too much good conversation will do that to you) I ordered the prix fixe (French: pree feeks) menu (men-yoo) and my lovely counterpart decided to try something a little more her style on the regular menu. I started with the veal cheek sous vide and she had the Burrata salad. The veal was very tender and had a nice flavor. The portion was small but that's what happens with prix fixe. The burrata was the star of the evening for my beguiling beau and it's described as: Roasted Brussels Sprouts, Crispy Hazelnuts, Candied Prosciutto, Baby White Asparagus & Broken Balsamic Vinaigrette. I would describe it as the best baby food I've ever had. Tasted delicious, weird texture. The main course consisted of beef tenderloin that was perfectly cooked, albeit a little cool. I'm not sure if that's because of epicurean flair for presentation or if it was because we were the last order in the house. Mademoiselle had the gruyere cheeseburger because they were out of short ribs. Both were delicious and we savored every bite. For dessert were given a small portion of bread pudding (read: prix fixe). Consumed later after many more wines, it was delicious. Overall it was a lovely evening at Bin77 and I will definitely come back, possibly on a slower night to really enjoy the atmosphere and not yell over the clamor of a deservedly busy eatery.

This restaurant is in a super nice area (Perkins Rowe), and the inside and outside of the restaurant are beautiful. I came for happy hour ($7 wine and select cocktails) and really enjoyed the old fashioned. I ordered the prosciutto, bacon and fig flatbread, which was listed on the website as $7 for happy hour, but turns out the website was outdated. Regardless, it was Delicious!!! Perfect combination of sweetness from the fig and salty from the meats. In general, the place is a bit pricey - but nice to come during happy hour to get less expensive drinks!

Joined a friend for a long lunch starting with a Bloody Mary. Delicious, spicy but not too spicy. Ordered the Braised Mississippi Rabbit Confit Tamales which was one tamale with a Saffron-Black Bean Salad with Cilantro-Poblano Cream. This was truly amazing. Such flavor but not your traditional tamale. We also shared the Prince Edward Island Mussels & Little Neck Clams with Fennel & Onion Sofrito, Saffron Fingerlings, Crispy Guanciale, and Ponzi-Pernod Butter Sauce, the Cornmeal Dusted Gulf Oysters, Fried Okra, Cayenne Butter Sauce, Horseradish Creme Fraiche & Soy Glaze, and the Blackened Tuna Carpaccio, Seaweed & Edamame Salad, with Ponzu-Eel BBQ, and Kimchi Puree. All were delicious. I enjoy dining at a restaurant that takes as much care and creativity in preparing a dish as I would at home. This is definitely a place to go if you are particular about your dining out experience. I have been several times now and have yet to be disappointed.

I was really looking forward to trying Bin 77 after hearing great things from friends and Yelp reviews. I came with a party of four on a Friday night, and there was ample seating inside (outside was full). We took some time to peruse the food and drink menus, and I was excited to see the variety of ingredients and unique combinations of food. However, as a vegetarian, there were very few options for me (a hummus plate appetizer, a few salads, and french fries). There was a note on the bottom of the menu that said to ask about vegetarian options. I opted to do that- I've done that at other restaurants and gotten some amazing veggie-centric dishes created for me. Our waitress took our drink orders and later returned to take our food orders. We asked her if there were specials and she rushed through them- it was evident that she was unfamiliar with the specials- she was even skipping over some words on her sheet! After everyone else ordered, I inquired about the vegetarian option. The waitress seemed confused and listed some of the vegetarian menu items (the hummus, salads, etc). I told her there was a note on the menu about asking for a vegetarian plate. She said, "it would probably be like artichokes and peppers on a plate..." I asked if it would only be vegetables (I was hoping for the addition of a grain like rice or grits) and she said yes. I said I would just get a salad instead and ordered the beet salad. Our food arrived and everything looked delicious! The others at my table had tuna, ribs, and lamb. My salad was smaller than I expected (I wish the waitress had said it wasn't a meal-sized salad when I ordered it, or at least told me it would be quite small), but it looked wonderful. However, it was missing many of the components (no pickled rhubarb, honeycomb, or bee pollen cracker- which I had really been looking forward to). Instead, it was composed of pickled beets and radish, pea shoots, and a sweet dressing with goat cheese croquettes. There were edible flowers too, which were tasty. I liked my dish, but was disappointed that it wasn't as the menu described and that the waitress didn't tell me that certain ingredients might have been unavailable. Everyone else liked their food, though! We also got dessert which was the highlight of the meal for me. I shared a tres leches cake with my boyfriend and it was wonderful. Overall, I'm not sure if I'd come back unless I was just getting a drink before going to dinner elsewhere. My group and I wandered over to the former Wine Loft to get an after-dinner drink and there were some great cocktails there (I had the French 77- yum!). There is also a small plate menu at that bar, but there was not a single vegetarian option on it. tl;dr mediocre service, not vegetarian friendly, good drinks

Walked in for a seat at the bar at around 730 pm on a Friday. The place was half full. The bartender was super friendly she made some great wine recommendations. I had a glass of the spatlese Riesling and I am happy to say the wine was excellent! Great choice or someone looking for a light fruity flavor. The food however left a a lot to be desired. I ordered the shrimp mousse wontons.. What I expected was a light airy wonton, but what I got was a pocket of deep over-fried dough with shrimp inside - and it was not a mousse at all - or it did. It feel like mousse at least! It was super oily, the sauce that came with it was absolutely vile and the presentation was so bad! I was surprised and disappointed, because the place actually had seemed decent! Anyways.. The wine was great, my server was nice hence the 3 stars.. Will not be back for food ever!

This place is an absolute GEM. The chef (David) is an undiscovered John Besh - he's that good. I've eaten at three of John's places - and they are wonderful - so I'm not just talking smack here. But do yourself a favor and come try the food. When this place first opened the wine selection was great and the food was above average. Now they still have a great wine selection, great staff, and the food is terrific.

You only get one chance to make a first impression and after my first take of Bin 77, there probably wont be a second chance. Bin 77 suffers from poor execution, awkward service and completely not worth the value. Growing up in the northeast, I got spoiled at restaurants in Philly and NYC by the culinary geniuses that reside there. You could imagine my excitement when I finally found a place in Baton Rouge that promised to serve similar cuisine at Bin 77. When it comes to ingredients like foie, sweetbreads, braised short ribs and anything confit, I'm like a moth to a street light! Unfortunately, the light of Bin 77 was a bug zapper for me. I think the most disappointing aspect was that I know for a fact I could make better food myself. The night was off to a weird start when I sat down at an empty table but it was sticky and dirty. Although it was wiped off, after we sat down, it remained dirty. Not a very good start. Then, we sat without silverware for so long, I actually grabbed sets off of a nearby table. We had the foie gras torchon, sweetbreads, duck confit flat bread, and veal cheek and truffled egg ravioli. The foie gras torchon was not prepared via torchon. More of a terrine if anything. It came pressed in to a small bowl and not the discs of foie that result from torchon preparation. I know its a small detail, but its all in the details. The foie was definitely old as the top of the dish was oxidized gray to the underlying pink. No nitrite in the prep perhaps. The rest of the dish just seemed pedestrian without any acidity and didn't elevate the foie. We had to ask for more toast as it only came with two slices. The sweetbreads were fried up nicely with a delicate crust. The insides were a bit pink indicating they didn't spend time in a milk bath to draw out the remaining blood and the membrane wasn't removed. The sauce tasted exactly like McDonald's BBQ sauce and I couldn't get past how much it tasted like a chicken McNugget. The duck flatbread was very overcooked, and the "chef" should have never sent it out. The crust was almost cracker like, but I prefer my flatbreads a bit thicker and chewier. I also couldn't see any caramelized onions or Humbolt fog cream. The server asked if he could take it back, but serving an overcooked dish is like saying something mean out loud, you can't simply take it back and make everything all better. I'm sure if it was executed with more attention, it would have been delicious because I think the concept is a winner. The ravioli was fried, but really chewy and fell apart too much. It was actually hard to grab a bite of the pasta with the filling. Upon not finding a whiff of truffle, I felt like Milton from Office Space saying to myself "I was told there would be truffle". The hard boiled egg yolk on top looked nice but it would have been much nicer if it was soft boiled and allowed to run over the dish. After having our meal, I could definitely tell there wasn't any passion, pride, or oversight in the kitchen. The service was kind of quirky. I know they meant well, but the timing was odd as they dropped our entrees while our appetizer plates were still on the table. It took an unusually long time to get drinks refilled. The check was dropped about 2 minutes after our plates were cleared without asking if we wanted another drink or dessert. I felt really rushed, even though our conversation was peaking just after dinner. All together, I thought Bin 77 tries too hard to be fine dining and elevated cuisine, but it suffers from lack of attention to detail. I originally gave it 2 stars, but I honestly woke up at 2:30 am going over the service and food and decided that any experience that keeps me up at night should factor in to my rating. For these prices, I expect every aspect to be completely immaculate and memorable, leaving me planning my return ASAP. I've gone to James Beard award winning restaurants as well as places run by Top Chefs and Iron Chefs and have spent similar amounts of money and have had my mind completely blown. Unfortunately I was very disappointed in my experience and probably won't return any time soon. TL;DR Bad food, awkward service, very overpriced. Skip this one.

I visited this place as the Grape, and it was good, but after the name change it became great. Wonderful Happy Hour specials - several great wines, flatbreads, and cocktails available from 4-6pm for $7. Wednesdays offer 30% off select bottles. Because of this and much more, this place is one of my regular haunts. By far my favorite item on their menu is the charcuterie. They have several selections of cheeses and meats, and every one I've tried has been enjoyable. The most spectacular, addicting part of the charcuterie plate, though, is the divine feta cream they serve with a loaf of french bread. I love it so much that I went the other night and ordered just bread and feta cream as an appetizer - yes, I know, I may have an illness. Another great item I would suggest for a happy hour/light dinner is the Prosciutto, Fig, and Bacon Flatbread. Crispy and its got that great sweet and salty combo going on - great with a glass of white wine. I haven't tried too many of the other dishes since they changed chefs recently, but the other night, we decided to try the Braised Pork Belly and the Saffron Pappardelle pasta. The Pork Belly was OUTSTANDING - not at all fatty and a great marriage of flavors and textures with the coleslaw and the creamy potato cake. The Saffron Pappardelle was decent, but unfortunately, the chef was heavy handed with the truffle oil and it ruined the dish as it crossed into bitter territory. If the truffle oil was much lighter or taken out altogether, I have no doubt this would be a better dish. If you are in the mood for dessert, the bread pudding with a scoop of vanilla ice cream is A MUST. One of the better bread puddings I've had in Baton Rouge - warm and moist with a delicious bourbon caramel sauce and peanut brittle on top. The Half Baked Brownie is also wonderful if you are in the mood for chocolate. Bottom Line - one of the best in BR for a glass of wine and a nibble, but chances are, I won't go the entree route again as they are slightly overpriced and I am honestly more intrigued by the appetizer and small plate selections.

A solid 4 stars. Thursday is the best night to come here because of their prix fixe menu, usually 3 courses with or without wine pairings. I love that the chef is willing to take on fairly complex recipes with tons of different ingredients. It seems like every dish has a puree and a pickle and a reduction and a foam and a... the list goes on and on. Really one of the very few restaurants in the Baton Rouge area I've seen willing to try this level of complexity. They have a great wine program as well. Love that they do a small tasting on Thursday nights, usually sampling whatever it is included with the wine dinner that night and a few more. I also love that you can buy any bottle on their menu at retail to take home with you. My one complaint is that while their dishes are quite ambitious, I'm not sure they always have the staff in the kitchen to pull it off. On the few nights we've been there when the head chef is out that night, the dishes really lack. All of the ingredients are there, but the preparation is off, the flavors don't blend well, and various parts are often over or under cooked. That's a bummer, because when this place is on, it's easily my favorite restaurant in the Baton Rouge area.

Too bad it shares a patio with The Loft next door. I love the Italianate fountain though... Very soothing. Upgraded the patio furniture. Bigger chairs with smoother backs & cushy bottoms. Much more comfortable when the cooler weather hits. Only had one glass of wine: French chenin blanc, but it was superb. I will return.

I love this place! Thursday nights they have a 3 course tasting menu for $35 and that includes the wine pairing. Also they change the menu each week. This chef is amazing! For those who are foodies and/or wino's...this place is perfect for you. The chef used to work at Charlie Trotters in Chicago and Per Se in New York.

The food here is divine! The empanada dough was nice and fluffy. You could tell it was fresh. My deconstructed beef stroganoff was beautifully plated and the perfect portion. The beef was nice and tender and just fork tender. The dessert was a lemon bar, which went very well with the whipped cream. The service was delightful and the place is very nicely put together. I would highly recommend it.

In all fairness, I have never been to Baton Rouge before but this was my first trip and my first time dining at Bin77. I went for the Trinitas Cellars wine dinner, so the menu was pre-set and gave an incredible variety and display of what the chef is capable of! I was very impressed not only with the caliber and quality of food but with the creativity of the menu and the delicious food pairings! The space itself is awesome too! We had the dinner outside with live music and a beautiful evening but also could see hanging out in the newly opened bar section for hours! I will be back!

Awesome restaurant the pork belly is so good. The flatbreads are the best. This the only restaurant with new and creative ideas. More than a wine bar

Always one of my favorite places, and now that they are local it just makes it all the more enjoyable to pimp them. I think the aps and entries are pretty legit, and the wine selection as well as the knowledge and friendly staff is equally as impressive. I'm pretty hard to please, but Bin 77 is a restaurant to be taken seriously. Love it.

Limited menu but very attractive selections. I enjoyed a very relaxing and comfortable dinning experience Friday night. The staff was very polite and informative. I highly recommend this Bin 77 Bistro especially if your looking for something light and fast. I will become a regular.
